The purposes of the committee include: (i) coordinating with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization to support the Property Owners Association Law board certified specialty area of practice, (ii) encouraging continuing legal education providers to incorporate property owners association (POA) ‑ relevant topics and speakers (and similarly, encouraging attorneys representing POAs to develop articles and talks for use with CLE programs), and (iii) developing balanced legislative proposals, if requested or approved by REPTL, for consideration by the State Bar as State Bar‑endorsed bills. Additionally, the committee serves as a resource to REPTL members, public officials and others on the law affecting common interest ownership communities in the State of Texas. Such resource will include a significant community association law library on the committee’s REPTL website and the promotion of continuing legal education topics relating to homeowners and condominium owners associations.
